MMA, in collaboration with HNTB, AC Martin, and Hargreaves Associates, was selected as one of three finalists by the City of Los Angeles in an international competition to design the City’s new Sixth Street Viaduct. The team of architects and engineers presented their design for the project to City representatives on September 12, and shared their vision with the public at a series of public meetings held in Boyle Heights and the Downtown Arts District. The project will replace the existing Sixth Street Viaduct across the Los Angeles River and connect the communities of Boyle Heights on the east to the LA Arts District on the west. The team’s design celebrates these neighborhoods as well as the Los Angeles River by creating an aesthetic, functional, and iconic landmark for the City.
