PITTMAN DOWELL RESIDENCE RECEIVES 2012 AIA INSTITUTE HONOR AWARD FOR ARCHITECTURE

MMA’s Pittman Dowell Residence has been recognized with a 2012 AIA Institute Honor Award for Architecture. The jury of peer architects recognized “the clear concise presentation of details and the theatrically arranged spaces constitute a sublime and poetic expression and push the boundaries of what a house can be.” They further noted that ” the house acts like an optical instrument with staged views of the surrounding landscape including spectacular views of the valley below and the hills above.” Located in La Crescenta, California, the project is just one of nine selected for recognition this year.

The AIA Institute Honor Awards program recognizes achievements for a broad range of architectural activity to elevate the general quality of architecture practice, establish a standard of excellence against which all architects can measure performance, and inform the public of the breadth and value of architecture practice.
