STAR APARTMENTS
IN NEW WAYS OF
THE WORLD

Star Apartments is included in the New Ways of the World exhibition, curated by the arc en rêve centre d’architecture and exhibited in Gare Saint-Sauveur in Lille, France.

New Ways of the World focuses on new living conditions in the face of contemporary challenges (climatic change, social crises, technological issues etc.) through a selection of recent situations/projects from all over the world. These situations/projects are made by inhabitants, researchers, architects, engineers, landscapers, scientists, politicians, and are  presented collectively in the form of photographs, documentaries, specific installations, models and videos.

Star Apartments is represented at two scales, the scale of the individual and the scale of the community. The individual is represented using 1” = 1’-0” diorama models of individual apartments. The space of each apartment, or the freedom to define personal space, results in a rich diversity of interiors defined by the residents themselves and the objects they choose to live with. The scale of the community is represented with a large scale photograph of the building by Iwan Baan, which shows Star’s architectural organization:  a public health zone at street level; a second level for community and wellness programs; and four terraced floors of residences above.
