LARI PITTMAN &
SILKE OTTO-KNAPP
SUBJECT, PREDICATE, OBJECT

Subject, Predicate, Object was an exhibition of work by Lari Pittman and Silke Otto-Knapp, on view from April 22-May 27, 2017 at Regen Projects in Los Angeles.

Placed in the center of the gallery was an intersected constellation of tables designed by MMA. The white, minimal pedestals held Pittman’s ten large-scale artist books entitled A History of Human Nature (I-X). Each table was supported by just two vertical planks, creating broad display platforms equal in size and height. Narrow horizontal beams connected the display surfaces, stabilizing the unbalanced two-legged structures and mapping various paths for viewers to examine the artwork. The low profile and neutral color of the pedestals allowed the colorful artist books to remain the focus of the gallery.
